Volvo delivers 100th fire engine with Orlaco's camera system

The 100^th truck forms part of an order secured by Volvo after a public European tender, and comprises the delivery of various models Volvo FE and FM. The trucks have been fitted with Orlaco camera systems. Eighteen months ago the first trucks were used with great satisfaction. One application which the fire brigade uses the container trucks for is to move containers which transport equipment. This could be equipment required during an accident with hazardous substances, or for creating large-scale water transport. The National Police Services Agency have also purchased container trucks within this order, using them for various large-scale investigations.

Safety
Fire engines are specialized modes of transport. They are large and there is often little room to manoeuvre. The driver often finds himself in situations that require quick action. He must be extra vigilant, because traffic - and cyclists in particular - hardly take any notice of the fire engine. Maximum visibility is a necessity in order to be able to manoeuvre safely.
