Front view: the viewing problem
The blind spot is the area around the vehicle that is not visible to the driver and the space that other road users and obstacles could occupy. High trucks as well as the ever-increasing amount of traffic only make the vision problem worse. The national government as well as the European Union are working together to substantially improve traffic safety.
As of 26th January 2007 a new guideline has been implemented. This guideline states that it is mandatory for all newly registered vehicles to be equipped with a certified front vision system. Front vision is mandatory at forward speeds between 0 and 30 km per hour.

The Orlaco solution
The Orlaco colour front vision systems are legally certified and approved according to European standards. An Orlaco camera system helps the driver to monitor various areas directly surrounding the vehicle, thereby making the blind spot in front, as well as to the side of the vehicle visible. The cameras are compact and inconspicuous and do not affect the aesthetic design of the truck and can be easily integrated into the sun-visor for example. The camera does not protrude from the vehicle in any way and cannot be easily damaged. Once the camera has been fitted, it does not need to be repositioned in any way and can be used by all drivers. The camera does not even need to be repositioned after the vehicle has been cleaned in a car wash.

The advantages of an Orlaco Front Cam compared to a front vision mirror
• A broader field of vision
The camera sees more than a mirror.

• Compact
The camera does not protrude from the vehicle and is therefore less susceptible to damage. The camera is compact and does not affect the aesthetic design of the vehicle.
• Additional rear visibility
Damage caused by vehicles whilst reversing remains an underestimated expense for companies. The Orlaco system can easily be upgraded with a rear vision camera.
• A combination with navigation
Save on both cost and space by connecting your Orlaco system to a navigation system.
• Aerodynamic
The camera’s compact and aerodynamic design does not affect the fuel consumption of the vehicle.
• Single adjustment
The camera is always positioned correctly, no matter what the driver’s height is.
• Relaxed driving
The driver is able to drive stress-free and does not experience flashing white lines on the road.
• Excellent vision in wet conditions
When it rains, the view from the front vision mirror is not clear as the windscreen wipers do not clear this particular area. When an Orlaco system is used, this will no longer be a problem.

Side view: the viewing problem
In 2007, a European Union guideline became effective and stated that all European trucks licensed between 2001 and January 2006 must have an extra side vision system fitted onto the side of their vehicle by 2011. In the EU, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark have already taken measures and the national governments have already introduced legislation regarding side vision effective as of 2003.
The Orlaco solution
Orlaco’s camera systems literally make all the blind spots around the truck visible. The camera that is installed high on the truck allows the driver to make a turn without having to worry about what is in the blind spot.

Rear view: the viewing problem
It is not easy to reverse a truck in busy traffic. The driver is not able to see what is happening in the area behind the vehicle and there is a high chance of an accident occurring. Also, damages caused by a reversing truck are often an underestimated expense for companies. The beeping sound that a reversing distribution truck makes early in the morning or late at night can also be annoying for residents in surrounding area.
The Orlaco solution
The use of an Orlaco camera allows the driver to reverse his vehicle quietly and safely. The driver is able to see exactly what is happening in the area behind his vehicle and does not need to rely on instructions from others. The cameras are installed on the rear end or the side of the vehicle where the combination jack knifes.

The monitor on the dashboard is activated automatically and the driver is therefore able to clearly oversee the situation. He also has full control of the situation whilst manoeuvring his vehicle and does not need to depend on receiving instructions from others.

A combination of front and rear view
Orlaco’s blind spot system provides more than just vision to the side and front of your vehicle. Rear vision is also an extremely important area. The worry that many drivers have of not seeing someone or something whilst they are reversing their vehicle is a realistic fear. A lot of the current high trucks on the roads have no visibility of the area that lies ten to fifteen metres behind their vehicle. If an Orlaco camera system was installed, you would have full visibility of this area. The camera system will not only help you to prevent accidents occurring, it will also help you to avoid hitting those small annoying poles!

Navigation
If you are looking for a system that is compact and has all the characteristics of a high quality route information system that is also capable of making blind spots visible, then the Multicombi System is the system for you. This system consists of a camera and a navigation system. We have compiled a list below of the most important characteristics of this system to provide you with a clear picture of the advantages of this combined system.

The power of the combination
● A saving on costs: the two systems combined are less expensive than two separate systems.
● Less space is needed in the cabin: one single monitor is sufficient to view the necessary information.
● Conformd with the requirements for front view.

Specials
Rear steering axes. In a trailer combination where the trailer axes steer, the trailer often swerves to the left or right whilst turning. The most unnecessary damage occurs when the trailer turns to the left as, at this moment, the driver has no visibility at all of this area.
The Orlaco solution
Orlaco offers you a unique, high quality vision solution that will help prevent accidents and damages as well as downtime in your company. By installing a camera to the left as well as on the right upper side of the trailer, the driver will have full visibility of the axes and the bumper. The driver can activate the monitor in the cabin either manually or automatically.

Orlaco’s certified front vision system can easily be added to a VDO navigation system. Orlaco included the Garmin computer even in the assortment, which makes one-stop-shopping possible. The monitor must however have a monitor activator. The DDIN monitor is the most suitable for use as it is already fitted with a monitor activator. When speeds of 0 to 30 km per hour are reached, the driver will have front visibility and can hear the navigation instruction dialogue. The monitor will automatically switch over to the navigation mode when the brake is applied or when speeds above 30 km per hour are reached. In addition to connecting an Orlaco display to a navigation computer, there is also the possibility to connect Orlaco cameras to a navigation computer. This works with various types of Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine and VDO. If you would like to receive more information, you can always contact us via telephone number +31 342 404 555.
It is not possible to add front vision to a side vision system on new trucks that have been licensed after 26th January 2007, unless the front mirror remains mounted. A mandatory law states that vehicles travelling forwards between 0 and 30 km per hour must have a front vision system.
Front vision is mandatory for a vehicle turning to the right as the speed of the vehicle is slower than 30 km per hour. Whilst turning, front vision is mandatory and side vision cannot be displayed.
In the case of front vision, it is prohibited by law to view the images from two cameras on one single monitor. In other instances, however, we do not advise you to do this, as the quality of the camera image decreases when two images are displayed on one monitor and because of the costs involved. If you still wish to view two camera images simultaneously, we advise you to use two separate monitors.
We advise you to use a cable. When you use a cable you will be guaranteed to receive a constant high quality signal and image. Wireless systems use free frequencies. Therefore, there is a risk of receiving other images in the area which risks safety.
New trucks have already been fitted in the factory with mirrors that ensure visibility of the entire blind spot area to the side of the vehicle. The front mirror may be replaced by a local law-approved certified camera system for front vision. Orlaco’s certified FrontCam has many advantages compared to the front mirror.
The DDIN monitor is fitted as standard with a monitor activator. During front vision and speeds of more than 30 km per hour, the monitor automatically switches to standby mode. This allows for an "easy drive" as the driver does not see the continual flashing stripes from the road on the monitor.
