Telescopic cranes

The viewing problem
The modern telescope crane is a familiar site in the building and construction industry and is often seen hoisting large loads. The crane operator in the cabin does not always have optimum visibility of the crane’s hook and load, especially in situations where he has to lift the load over building constructions, machines or installations.

Viewing problems with telescope crane

Orlaco solves the vision problem for telescope cranes

The Orlaco solution
The telescope crane operator can luckily rely on the help of Orlaco’s eyes high up in the sky. The load view camera is fitted on the tip of the telescopic boom and is positioned looking vertically downwards to the area on top of the hook. The monitor in the cabin ensures the operator has continued visibility of every position of the hook whilst hoisting.

The camera not only enables the operator to work easier and more efficiently, it also ensures extra safety whilst doing his work. The crane operator is able to take immediate action and, if necessary, verify instructions he has received from the contact person on the ground.

Applications
The view of the winch is often limited on the larger types of mobile telescope cranes. Because of this, it is possible to use the hoisting load monitor to simultaneously connect a winch view camera. The operator is able to switch easily from camera to camera by just a press of a button. There is a possibility to extend the system with a rear vision and/or front vision camera and to connect a navigation system to the camera system.

FAQ

With the help of a switcher, it is possible to connect three cameras to one monitor. The operator needs to just push a button to switch between the various cameras.

A quad makes it possible to view a maximum of four cameras simultaneously on one monitor. We advise you to use a 10" monitor. A screen splitter allows for viewing a maximum of two cameras at one moment. In this case, the standard 7" monitor is adequate.

Yes, a rear vision and front vision system can be extended with a navigation system. All of these three functions are then combined on a single monitor.

Yes, an existing load view vision system can be extended, (depending on the application that is needed) with a winch view, rear vision and/or front vision system.

The Orlaco camera systems for tower and lattice boom cranes can either be purchased or rented. A custom-made vision solution is available depending on the requirements of the customer.

Wireless connections are used mostly in telescope, tower and mobile tower cranes. The main reason for this is the variable distance between the camera and the monitor. A solid cable connection would be in these instances extremely vulnerable to damages due to the increased possibility of the cable breaking.
